Healthy Choices

Posted by Jacked Fury in , , , , , ,

Healthy choices, Something we all have. Not many of us however make the right choice. Now, I'm not saying its not ok to indulge in some chocolate every now and then.

Some food you should try to select are things such as Grilled Chicken, Steak, Fish, Eggs and shrimp are all good sources of protein. Just try to avoid getting deep priced food like at many of the fast food places. Go with the grilled chicken sandwich at McDonalds or even the grilled chicken salad. Pork is a ok choice, I do not eat much pork though.

Some good healthy carbs are Whole Wheat Pastas, Whole Wheat Bread, Sweet Potato, Oatmeal and All Bran. These are good examples of good complex carbs. These kind of carbs would beat ate during the day or before your workout. Fruits are good to have after a workout to help shuttle the nutrients to your muscles since they get digested faster and more easier since all the blood is in your muscles still. A good fruit to eat would be a Banana.

Some good fats to eat are Natural Peanut Butter, Peanuts, Almonds, EVOO, Fish (good source of protein and fats), Egg Yolk, Avocado, Cheese and any kind of Nuts. These are all good sources of healthy fats. Fats are essential to our bodies.

If you feel you are hungry after a meal try adding more veggies to your meals. Veggies are great food that you can eat a lot of!

Just making the healthy choice over the unhealthy choice will help you achieve your fitness goals. It may be hard at first to give up that tasty deep fried chicken but the healthy alternatives are just as tasty!

Eat-A-Thon

Posted by Jacked Fury in ,

We had our 3rd Annual 99cent Eat-A-Thon this past Saturday, June 6th. It was a festive time! We started off in Mifflinburg, PA going to the McDonalds there. Then we made our way to Lewisburg, PA and hit up all the fast food places there as well. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys and Taco Bell/KFC were the places in Lewisburg. Then were headed to Selinsgrove, PA and decided to take a intermission since we were feeling pretty full and saw Land of the Lost. It turned out to be a decent movie. We continued our journey on the Eat-A-Thon at Taco Bell. Then we went to Wendys, Burger King and finished with another McDonalds. It was a fun experience. We handed out business cards promoting our Eat-A-Thon. Unfortunately the Selinsgrove, PA McDonalds gave our card back! That was a little disappointing to us, but it did not hinder our trip!

Super Sets, Pause Sets, Drop Sets...What?

Posted by Jacked Fury in , , , , ,

Some of these terms may be a foreign language to some people. What exactly are Drop Sets, Pause Sets, Super Sets and other kinds of Sets? Well keep reading and you will find out!

A lot of these types of workouts are used to help shock the muscle to promote more muscle growth. If you keep changing up your workout routine then your muscles shouldn't adapt as easily to your training style. Lets start off shall we?

Lets start with the Super Set. Now Super Sets are great to use! A Super Set is doing 2 workouts at once basically. For example you do a set of Barbell Curls then immediately go do another workout such as Alternating Dumbbell curls. You take no rest in between sets until the 2nd set is done. Most people will suggest you rest 30seconds to 60 seconds before starting your next Super Set. You can do Super Sets for any body part. It is good to workout 2 body parts at once with them as well such as a Barbell Curl into a Rope Press Down. Super Sets also speed up your workout so you will spend less time in the gym but still reap the benefits of a hard workout!

Next we have the Pause Set. Pause sets are good to use when you are lifting super heavy weight. I would typically use this type of sets when you reach your 1 rep max. Say your 1 rep max for Wide Grip Curls are 145 pounds. You would do 1 rep, then pause for a few seconds and do another rep. This in theory promotes that you are lifting more weight for more reps since you pause your muscle can relax for a brief second then get shocked! Pause Sets are great to build up strength and muscle size! You got to lift heavy to get big!

Moving on to Drop Sets. I see a lot of people using these type of sets. Drop Sets are very good to tire the muscle out. A drop set is when you are say benching pressing 215 pounds for however many reps you can do then immediately dropping the weight down then doing more reps until you can't. Normally I see people only dropping the weight down once, but feel free to keep dropping. Once you are done that is one complete set! I like to do Drop Sets on my last 2 sets of my exercises.

Another type of set is called the Giant Set. It is basically like a super set. The difference mainly is that you are doing more than 2 exercises in a row. So you do for example Barbell Curl, Dumbell Curl and Tricep Pull Downs then rest breifly and do it again! It is great to do Giant Sets every so often I find. I tend to do these occasionally, It just takes a lot out of you. Giant Sets would be really good to do in a type of full body workout!

I hope you found this helpful and informative. Now when people are saying to you "Hey, Spot me on this Drop Set." You will not be looking like a fool!

Increased Back Width and Size

Posted by Jacked Fury

Lately I've been working on trying to increase the size of my back, the lats specifically. When you look at guys with big lats you can't help but think "dang." Most people at the gym want others to think that about them! Here is what I found to help increase back size and width!

One of the workouts proven to help with back width is the one workout I have neglected from doing, Chin-Ups. Chin-Ups target the lat really good. Doing them before and after your workout 5 sets each will help you increase width and give you more strength. Some people do Chin-Ups at every workout.

The Lat Pull Down. This exercises targets mainly the lat as well. Its basically like a chin-up but you are seated. It is great to do for increase those powerful lats!

Seated Cable Rows are another great back workout. Cable Rows are great for increasing the density of your back! Doing Seated Cable Rows for 3-4 sets of about 12 reps will benefit you greatly!

Hammer High Rows is something you should be doing as well. They will target your back at a different angle using different muscle fibers to spark more muscle growth!

There you have it! 4 great ways to increase back width! You can also throw in a few more exercises like T-Bar Rows, Bent Over Barbell rows and One Handed Dumb bell Rows. If you use these 7 workouts you will have people saying "Dang!" to you when you walk into the room!

Fusion Bodybuilding Agent M

I recently got selected to use Fusion Bodybuilding's product Agent M for free. They generously gave me a full product of Agent M to write about. Agent M should last me 15 days. Fusion Bodybuilding's Agent M looks to have a great ingredient profile. Agent M is a progressive BCAA (Branched Chained Amino Acid) product. It will help with muscle repair after your workout. Agent M is scientifically proven to accelerate muscle grown, reduce post training muscle inflammation by 63% enabling you to build muscle faster! By fighting muscle inflammation, Agent M keeps your muscle bellies healthy and growing!

Agent M comes with 2 bottles in the box. Each bottle containing 120 pills, a total of 240. The Agent M also comes with a comprehensive muscle mechanic manual. It is pretty informative. I suggest you look it over if you get this product. Basically the dosing is pretty simple, You dose 4 pills before your workout and dose another 4 pills after your workout. You are suppose to take all 8 pills on non-workout days as well.

Overall I'm very excited to write a log about this product. I will be posting 3 times a week in this blog about how things are going with the use of Agent M. You can also follow the log on a daily basis here http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=116785711.

Jay Cutler: All Access DVD

Posted by Jacked Fury

Jay Cutler: All Access is Jay's newest DVD. In this Jay Cutler DVD it is different than his other DVD's that he has out. There really isn't too much filming from in the gym of Jay Cutler's training. A little disappointing to me.

The DVD starts off filming of Jay Cutler's preperation to the 2008 Mr. Olympia. He is 2 weeks out from the show when they start filming All Access. There are a lot of interviews with Jay's friends and family, such as his wife, parents and nutrition coach. It is pretty insight and informative on what it takes to prepare for a contest.

All Access then takes you to the 2008 Mr. Olympia. It shows Jay Cutler at the press conference answering questions, along with Dennis Wolf and Dexter Jackson. Eventually the DVD leads up to the pre-judging contest then to the final judging. Almost ending the DVD with Dexter Jackson and Jay Cutler on the stage as they announce Dexter Jackson as the 2008 Mr. Olympia.

After the 2008 Mr. Olympia, backstage, Jay Cutler is doing a interview and saying he "Gave the title to Dexter." Jay says he is basically disappointed in himself. Then the DVD goes to show Jay Cutler one month after the Mr. Olympia training a little bit. It ends with Jay Cutler talking about the future.

Overall I would watch this documentary again. It wasn't what I was expecting from the DVD. I like see how the guys train. Jay Cutler All Access DVD did it differently but still delievered a great production.

iSatori Liquid Morph Protein

Posted by Jacked Fury

I was lucky enough to recieve a free vial of the iSatori Liquid Morph Protein in grape flavor. I'm not a big fan of grape flavoring in grape juice or grape soda so, I was a little skeptical on the taste. Surprisingly the grape flavor was not very strong and was actually very good. It went down nice and smooth!

Calories: 212
Fat: 0g
Carbs: 8g
Protein: 45g

With these kinda of macro nutrients you can't really go wrong with it. 45g of protein is perfect! It also contains Carnosine, Nitric Oxcide, Glycerol and Citrulline. All are very beneficial to you and your workouts. The product claims it helps with strength, pump and recovery. With all these added benefits you can rest assured it will deliever these statements!

After taking my sample like I said the taste was good. It even smelled very much like grape. However 2 minutes after drinking the protein I found it hard to breathe, got light headed quickly and felt like I was burning up. It could have just been a one time deal or my body not reacting to it right. I may give these another shot, but with a reaction like that I may not. Other people that tested the vial had no side effects of these but me so far.

However I still suggest you give it a try.

Green Tea For Fat Loss?

Posted by Jacked Fury

I was wondering how well green tea worked. So, I was doing some research and even tried a Green Tea product. Green tea extract, as an extract it is more concentrated than just drinking it on its own, resulted in an increase in energy used by the body of 3-4%. Some studies say this effect of green tea weight loss is due to increased fat oxidation and thermogenesis. Thermogenisis refers to energy used in heat production that is not related to resting metabolism or physical activity.

However in another study I found, groups of people were given caffiene to see how it compared to the green tea thermogenisis. The people taking the green tea had higher thermogenisis than the people taking caffiene without green tea the study concluded.

So, How well does green tea work with weight loss? Last month I put it to the test! I got a free bottle of Nutec Performance Lab's Lean-Rescue. Which is a 80% EGCG green tea extract product. It also contains 200mg of caffiene for added energy. It also contains other added goodies too. This product lasted me almost a month. I started using this product weighing in at 181 pounds. After one bottle of using it I weighed 165 pounds. That is a 16 pound loss. I also ate healthy and excerised. You can't eat bad and not workout and expect the pills to work. Overall the product is truly amazing. I even have another bottle setting right here in front of me waiting to be used in the future!

Supplements That You Should Stack

Posted by Jacked Fury

I was thinking recently about some supplements I wanted to stack together to help build lean mass. Something relatively cheap but very effective. Obviously you will need some protein powder. I typically use SciVation Whey. It has a great ingredient profile and good amount of protein per serving with little carbs and fats. Protein is the building block of muscles after all! I take this normally when I wake up before my morning work out and after my work out. It also makes great for a quick meal if you are on the go or short on time.

Next, I like to use creatine. Its something that is truly great. You can't go wrong with Creatine Monohydrate. Creatine helps increase muscle size, strength and endurance! There are other fancy creatines out there, but Monohydrate is proven to work. It is also relatively cheaper than the fancier ones. I use Higher Power Micronized Creatine Monohydrate. I take 5 grams before my workout and I'm set! It has 200 servings which will last a long while.

Since I work out in the mornings I like to have a extra boost of energy to help keep me going through my workouts. A N.O. product that will deliever good energy and a good muscle pump! There are many good N.O. products out there. Some that already contain your daily creatine needs, such as Infinite Labs Juggernaut and VPX N.O. Shotgun. 2 of my personal favorites. If you use one of these you really don't need to use the creatine monohydrate. However, some studies suggest taking creatine after your workout as well. You could do this with the monohydrate, also taking creatine on your off days is great as well and the monohydrate will be great here to use as well if taking a N.O. with creatine in already.

There you have it! A simple yet very effective stack that is pretty cost effective. The protein if bought in 10lbs of SciVation will last you 2 months depending how you handle the servings. It has 160 servings per 10lb box. It costs $64.99 from http://www.bodybuilding.com/. The Higher Power Micronized Creatine is $18.99. It will last you 200 workouts since it has 200 servings! Infinite Labs Juggernaut is $42.89. I recommend the orange flavor. It has 40 servings, which if you work out 5 days a week it will last you 2 months! So $126.87 for 2 months of good supplements is a great price!

Ronnie Coleman Arrested

Posted by Jacked Fury

Can you believe this? 8 Time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman was arrested Friday May 22nd for impersonating a police officer in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas. Coleman showed a police badge to the officer and told him he was a officer as well in Arlington, TX. 8 Time Mr. Olympia then said, according to police, that he was a reserve officer. The officer checked the records which reported to be false and showed Coleman has not been a licensed officer since 2003.
